Join Helena Calmfors and David from Circa Press will join me on stage to pick a male and female BEST dressed winners at Rubber Cult at September 27th.
The book will also be on sale at Rubber Cult for £60, with special discounts on multiple orders. Read here.
Helena Calmfors is a New York-based performance artist and photographer whose work is inspired by the archetype of the dominant woman. It is a role with which she closely identifies and yet gently subverts by introducing ‘soft’ elements, such as flowers, into the typically hard-rubber aesthetic of domination.
Hierarchical power play is evident in all aspects of Helena’s art, ranging from performance to watercolour paintings, and digital and instant photography. She uses Polaroid as a way of representing the ephemerality of performance and the fleeting intimacy of the dominant/submissive relationship.
Published by Circa Press, Forget Me Not is Calmfors’ debut monograph.
A limited number of copies will be available on the night with a unique rubber wrapper: first come first served!
There are cabaret tables and chairs at the front of the stage and a small dance for wriggling about to house music, just before and after the shows. Shows start at 10pm sharp.
The event conception of Rubber Cult came from Miss Kim.
